A parish combination travelled to Newhill Park for a Community Games clash against Moycarkey and turned in a brave performance against a physically stronger Moycarkey outfit. The visiting side matched Moycarkey in the opening half and came close to opening their account in the fourth minute when Eoin Sheldon got on the end of Cillian Kennedy's corner kick to prod just wide of the upright. Moycarkey took the lead with four minutes remaining in the half with a well taken goal. The Slieve Felim side lost the influential Sean Malone through injury at half time as the hosts pounced for three quick fire goals in the opening four minutes of the second half. The visitors didn't give up and Stephen Rochford netted a consolation goal late on following fine play from Colm Lenihan on the left flank. The Moycarkey goal scorers on the day were Andrew Alexander and Louis Kearney who netted a brace a piece while Kyle Shelly, Owen Sheridan, Ben Ely and Darren Flood were also on the scoresheet for the winners. Rearcross goalkeeper Cathal Kennedy performed admirably throughout despite the incessant pressure, best of luck to Moycarkey in the remainder of the competition.
